PayPal Problems Questionnaire

CMNC is sorry you are having problems with PayPal.  We would like to understand the difficulty you are having, in hopes we can correct it or suggest a solution.

This questionnaire is intended to help you describe your problem as conveniently as possible.

If solutions are found, they will be shown in black letters, in this font, below the relevant description. Therefore this page is also partially a trouble-shooting guide.

Please remind yourself about email safety and PayPal at  http://www.cmnc.org/pp_safety.htm
and on PayPal’s web site

Do not click on a link in any email claiming to come from PayPal. Forward the entire email to spoof@paypal.com -- they will tell you if it is fraudulent. If it does not address you by your full name, it is fraudulent.

Please answer the following:

Online Payment History

Tip: click outside the selection drop-down boxes after making a choice, before you try to scroll with the mouse wheel or the keyboard arrow keys -- to avoid accidentally changing your selection.

After clicking the Submit button on a CMNC Membership or Workshop form, I do not see a page which mentions PayPal buttons

I see no PayPal buttons on the CMNC page which says it has them
Your firewall may be preventing access to PayPal.
Firefox users: you need to allow images which do not originate from CMNC: Tools > Options > Web Features > check Load Images, uncheck for the originating web site only -- because the button images come from PayPal.

I click on the PayPal Add to Cart button, but never see a PayPal page which says Chamber Musicians of Northern California in a light blue stripe near the top of the page

I click on the PayPal Add to Cart button and I get to the PayPal web site, but no amount is shown

I see a message about "Security failure. Data decryption error."
This may be due to setting(s) in your browser.  Try reducing the security level or making www.paypal.com a "trusted site".  If this does not fix your problem, change your settings back to what you had before.

On PayPal's page, I cannot see the amount, or I cannot see buttons or links to proceed.
Try to scroll to the right. Some pages may be wider than your browser's window.

I see the first amount on PayPal's page but there is no "Continue Shopping" button for additional payments
Enable Javascript (if it were enabled, you would not see this line)

I cannot scroll left to right to find buttons to Continue, Cancel, or other actions
PayPal may slightly reduce your browser window from Maximized. Somehow this prevents horizontal scroll bars from appearing.  Maximize your window and try scrolling -- or try your keyboard's right and left arrow keys.

I cannot scroll up and down.
Click in the page's white space, outside of a text box. Maximizing your window may also work for this problem
.

I see the amount on PayPal's page, but when I click on the Secure Checkout button I see "The recipient of this shopping cart link is not an approved shopping cart user. Please review your selection and try again."
If you are using Opera, try a different browser.

I'm having problems creating an account.
You can use PayPal without creating an account, at least for the first few times:
After you click on the Checkout button and you see the  Checkout page,
fill in "Pay with Credit Card..." and click on "Review Order and Continue" (left column)
rather than "Already Have a PayPal Account" (right column)

I'm having problems using my already existing PayPal account
Several solutions:
1.
Even if you have an account, you don't have to use it.
After you click on the Checkout button and you see the Checkout page,
fill in "Pay with Credit Card..." and click on "Review Order and Continue" (left column)
rather than "Already Have a PayPal Account" (right column)

2. Sign into www.paypal.com directly and try to correct your problem (for instance, forgotten password)
3. Set up a new PayPal account -- you may have to use a different email address for this

My credit card was rejected
All these items must agree with the credit card number:
Exact name, address, phone number, expiration date.
If any of these were entered incorrectly, the attempt by PayPal to 'pre-approve' a charge will fail.

Use Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card, or Discover or American Express credit card.
If you have difficulty updating the card's expiration date, try removing the card from your account and then add it with the new expiration date.
If you are using your account and PayPal is rejecting your card, see the previous question (about problems with your account)

Foreign credit card users: If your problem is any of the last 3 items, please create an account using the PayPal site for your country:
go to paypal.com; at the bottom of its home page, click on Worldwide.
After you have created the account, PayPal in the U.S. should accept your card.

I see a message that "Your Payment Session has expired."
This may be a problem with session cookies and your firewall or browser.
Make your firewall and your browser accept cookies, or at least session cookies.
You may need to close and re-open your browser, or restart your computer after making these adjustments.
See Office Watch's detailed explanation

An "error" occurred when I tried to select my state from a drop-down list
Glitches happen.  Try closing your browser and then try again.  Do check for multiple quantities on the PayPal page and update those before checking out
.

If you want to try PayPal again and the payment page is no longer in your browser, use the appropriate link below (also available on CMNC's home page):

Make a Membership Payment to CMNC (after application submission)

I had to give up and pay by check

I found a solution and was able to use PayPal!
